Why I'm Stopping Blogging

First couple of confessions to get out of the way;

1. The title of this post is not what it seems. I'm not stopping blogging forever, just for now (but read on to find out why).

2. And secondly, the person in the photo is not me and neither is it my photo, it's been taken off trusty Google. However his face does portray how I'm feeling right now.

So I've usually been the type of person who is very good at time management and always manages to juggle numerous tasks at the same time. Although recently I've had that 'oh god I'm in my final year and I only have two months left' sinking feeling in my stomach.
I absolutely love blogging; although I've only been doing it for about two weeks, I've definitely found a hobby that I can see myself sticking to and as a bonus, people seem to be enjoying reading what I have to say (for some reason) as those views keep adding up.
However I have two months to write a dissertation and to revise for and sit, four exams. I've worked really hard for the past couple years towards gaining this degree and it would be a shame if I felt as though I didn't give it my all towards the end.
That's why I'm putting blogging on the back burner for a while. Definitely not forever and it doesn't mean that I won't do the odd post but like I said, for the next couple months I need to keep my priorities in order!

I didn't realise how much time blogging would take up, It takes an entire day (more or less) to take photos, edit them and write a post; I completely give praise to those bloggers out there who manage to write a post every day as well as own YouTube channels, beauty lines etc. They must work their butts off!
In a couple months time when I finish my degree (fingers crossed) this is the type of dedication I aim to have and I can truly give it my all!

Thank you for reading and understanding!

Beauty | 5 Holy Grail Products

Being a beauty junkie, I love to switch things up and try new products, but for me there are some products which are added to my basket time and time again. I feel as though these little babies have become part of my family and they will forever remain there, as long as my bank balance allows.
So I thought I would share with you, what I consider to be my top 5 holy grail products, in the hope that you too can find 'The One'.

First up, Moroccanoil;

This one is a game changer in the hair department. I have pretty dry hair that has been subject to a comment or two from the hairdresser in my time and even a refusal to colour my depleted locks. This is not from over use of heated products or general poor maintenance but this truly my hair type and I know this as not even the drastic chopping off of my hair helped. The only thing that does help, is this miracle oil. In fact it does more than help, it really makes my hair, look and even smell amazing. I run the oil through my hair after washing and towel drying and if I have time, put the towel back on my head and let soak in for as long as I can. When I dry my hair it gives me silky smooth locks and I love it. There's many a hair oil out there but non that truly compete with this and I wouldn't wash my hair without using this afterwards.

Clinique Sonic Brush;

I have known about/wanted a cleansing brush for a very long time but not succumb to the splurge that is required to own one of these. Fortunately for me, my boyfriend did and got me one for Christmas, yay! I use this for one minute twice a day with my normal face wash and it really is an amazing little gadget. I'm sure you all know how these things work so I wont bore you with the details but I will tell you that it has really helped my skin. I feel as though it gives my skin a deep clean and gets rid of all that makeup that washing alone leaves behind. On top of this, my skin looks brighter and clearer after every time I use this. I recommend you go out and buy one now!

Tangle Teezer;

Not only do I have dry hair but I also have curly hair; but this I do actually love! Its nice knowing that I can just let my hair dry naturally and the natural curl does its magic and I'm not left with flat, lacking hair. However it does mean that it's difficult to get a brush through my hair whilst it's wet. There was a stage in school when it took so much effort that I used to just leave my hair alone and the word 'brush' disappeared from my vocabulary. This brush is a life saver in the hair department, it glides through without pulling or tugging my hair and gets rid of all the knots. It may sound a bit weird to include a hairbrush in my 'holy grail' products, but I truly wouldn't ever use another.

Burt's Bees Lip Balm;

For years I used your standard petroleum jelly based lip balm but never actually felt as though my lips were getting the nourishment they needed. I read an article, now don't take this for gospel because it may have been in the Daily Mail, that brands such as Vaseline add ingredients in them to make your lips dryer in the long-run to make you use more of their product and in turn, buy more. I really don't think this is true, but nevertheless it was enough to make me try a different product. I thought I would try a beeswax based lip balm instead and did my research and found this wonderful product. It contains lots of good vitamins and nice things that I, when used in the morning keep my lips soft all day! I think I'm the only person to ever go through a whole one of these without loosing it and I'm on my second tube in a year now.

Dry Shampoo;

The picture above is of the 'Batiste' dry shampoo as this is the one I had in my collection at the time however it's really dry shampoo in general that I consider to be a must-have product. If you haven't gathered from this post so far, washing my hair isn't an easy task for me and it's definitely something I dread (I'm sure you can guess where this is going). Therefore I use dry shampoo in between washes to make my locks more presentable and not as though I belong on Jeremy Kyle. If it wasn't for this product I would have to wash my hair every other day and that is not only bad for my hair but I'm sure it would also be bad for my sanity. All hail the dry shampoo.

What are your 'holy grail' products that you couldn't carry out your beauty routine without?
I'd love to know!
Hope you've enjoyed my post and make sure you look out for my next, it's a big one!

Review | Maybelline Lash Sensational

My normal mascara of choice and one that I have purchased time and time again is the Maybelline Mega Plush mascara. But we all like to mix things up every now and again so when I ran out of my trusty mascara I headed to Boots and trolled the make-up isles. When I stumbled upon the Maybelline Lash Sensational, it fulfilled my wish to try a new mascara as well as helping with my fear of change; How different can two Maybelline mascaras really be hey?
I've been using this mascara to make my beedy eyes look more presentable on and off for about a month now and therefore thought I would share my review with you guys.

At around £7.99 this mascara is pretty reasonable. Of course there are cheaper ones out there but there are also ones you would have to remortgage your house to afford!

This product claims to be a 'Lash Multiplying Mascara' with a 'Lash Multiplying Brush' so 'Lashes Look Visibly Multiplied And Fuller'- That's a lot of 'Multiplies' on one mascara tube.

I will admit, as superficial as it sounds, I was excited to add this to my make-up collection based on the packaging alone; it's a pretty pale pink metallic colour which is right up my street. The shape is pretty standard and similar to a lot of the other Maybelline mascaras; It's pretty chunky and I have seen a few reviews with people complaining about this but It doesn't personally bother me.

Those 'Visibly Multiplied and Fuller' lashes are promised courtesy of a fan applicator. It's curved with thinner bristles on the inside of the curve which are claimed to capture the smallest lashes 'we didn't know we had' (Seriously?) while the longer outer bristles are there to define and volumise the rest of those lashes.
Cutting to the point, I didn't like this. It was pretty difficult to get the hang of with all the different sides and curves. Even when I figured it out, with the rush to work or school, who has time to be navigating your way around a mascara brush in the morning? It has it's benefits in that it picks up a lot of product but for me this was too much. I find the firm plastic applicators kind of clump the mascara on rather than spread it around to coat all the lashes. Also it got EVERYWHERE and made my mascara game look very sloppy. However, maybe the issue just lies with me not getting on with plastic applicators rather than the mascara itself?

Once again, this is down to personal preference but I found the formula a little too runny which added to the 'clumpiness' of my lashes when applied. However if you love really dark thick lashes, this may be for you. Personally, I prefer the slightly more wispy and fluttery lash look.

Pay off:
My lashes definitely do look fuller and very dark; not ideal for a natural day-to-day look but might look better with a smokey eye at night time!

Oh this is a nightmare. I praise Maybelline for the staying power of this mascara, even when it's not waterproof, but my gosh it's difficult to get off. I usually use a make-up wipe (bad Nathalie) or some micellar water to remove eye make-up but this doesn't get all of it off. I would recommend using an oil based makeup remover to clean your eyes with this baby.

Overall I think this mascara is a bit of a Marmite situation and I would definitely say it's down to personal preference! If you love the really thick clumpy lash look, you've found the one! If you prefer a more natural 'butterfly' lash look probably opt for a different mascara.
I would say however, that I don't think the mascara lives up to all it's claims- my lashes didn't look 'multiplied' like it emphasizes a lot of times on it's packaging! I think I will be going back to my trusty Mega Plush from now on.

This is based on the fact that although this mascara is not for me, I do appreciate that it's not a terrible mascara, it just depends what look you want to achieve!

Beauty | Kylie Jenner Make-up

This 17 year old has been everywhere lately so it's hard to miss the surge in Kylie Jenner-esque posts out there. I know I'm late to the party but hey, I've only just got a blog!
So I did a Kylie Jenner Makeup look! Obviously I'm not brunette with 'real' voluptuous lips, however I do own a lip liner a phone to take a selfie on so I thought I would give it a go!

Products I used:

- BareMinerals- Mineral Foundation- Fairly Light

- Yves Saint Laurent- Touche Eclat- Shade 1

- Nars- Bronzer- Laguna

- MAC- Mineralize Blus- Warm Soul

- MAC- Eyeshadow- Vanilla

- MAC- Eyeshadow- Wedge

- MAC- Eyeshadow- Brun

- Ted Baker- Mascara- Black

- Soap and Glory- Supercat Liquid Eyeliner Pen- Black

- MAC- Matte Lipstick- Please Me

- NARS- Audacious Lipstick- Ingrid

Like I've said before, I'm definitely no make-up artist but I do like playing around with make-up and trying to recreate looks. This look is definitely more of a day-to-day make-up look rather than the huge over-drawn lips, but I did it more to suit my face and I like it!

Hope you've enjoyed,

Lifestyle | Throwback Thursday | Things All Girls Did Growing Up In The 00's

Things All Girls Did Growing Up In The 00's
In true throwback Thursday style, I thought I would share a throwback to that time we met Dianna Vickers (who?) in Puerto Banus circa 2009. (my friends are going to hate me for this, sorry!)

Scrolling through this album and seeing some of the awesome outfits we rocked, gave me the idea to do a post on a few things we all, as girls, did growing up in the 00's! Enjoy;

1. You knew all the words to the song in the Lizzie Mcguire movie

2. You collected Gel Pens
The more Gel Pens the better...and if you had the scented ones, you were the big 'I am'.

3. You wore Kanye West sunglasses
Made popular by the Kanye 'Stronger' video, these things were all the rage. Don't tell me you didn't own a pair, or seven!

4. You shopped at Tammy Girl
You'd pop in to Tammy whilst your mum was downstairs in Etam and needless to say you were distraught when they shut down!

3. You idolized Mary-Kate and Ashley

4. You backed Gareth Gates in the Pop Idol battle
That ever so tense battle between Gareth Gates and Will Young, that you probably cried at when he lost.

5. You secretly wanted to be in a dance crew

6. Until you watched Thirteen
Then you just wanted to get your tongue pierced and be best friends with these two!

7. And finally, you made up the best email address and MSN name, or so you thought...
And if you're like me, you've been to lazy too create a new one- it's always awkward when the woman at the MAC counter asks for your email address and you quote Demi Lovato lyrics to her...
